For all four of the Japanese manufacturers, dirt bikes are just a tiny part of what they do and declining sales in recent years has seen most of them focus more attention on all their other interests. But not Yamaha. The tuning fork brigade have really put their heads down and dug deep into their pockets to bring some of the most competitive and exciting dirt bikes to the market in the last few years – clearly Yamaha is serious about building great dirt bikes. Their 2016 thumper YZ’s are a strong case in point.
We anticipate only seeing major radical changes to these models in two years time, but the changes made on both new models are quite significant, far from just bling new graphics. And most of them can be retro-fitted to 2014 or 2015 models, which existing customers will appreciate.
