Thero and the Barkly crew have just finished constructing the zipline which will carry bikes and riders over the river. We included a similar zipline two years ago and it was a huge hit. This is what Thero says:
"A full 100 metres of cableway through the poplar forest over the Saalboom River 30 metres below!! This one make the first one over the Kraairiver (two years ago) looks like kidsplay!!! You don't have any idea what we accomplished with this one. The riders that`s going to do this one will surely have an unforgettable experience!"
The current (December 2012) issue features all the action from the Roof of Africa, an interview with Roof winner, Wade Young, a test of KTM’s 350 XCF-W and much more.
Two amazing comebacks saw Davi Millsaps (Suzuki) and Trey Canard (Honda) take the top two steps of the podium, with KTM’s Ryan Dungey grabbing 3rd. In the 250 class Eli Tomac (Honda) took the win ahead of Ken Roczen (KTM).
This weekend (12th/13th January) Jade Gutzeit is offering the opportunity to test the awesome new fuel injected Sherco enduro bikes which we recently tested (see January issue, which will be available at the demo days).
The new lighter and improved four stroke Beta RR’s have arrived at Cayenne Beta and the much anticipated 300 and 250 two stroke Beta’s are arriving this week. Brian Capper, who is riding for Cayenne this year, has already got his new 300 which he used to great effect at the Fever Endurocross in December, taking 2nd place behind giant-killer, Wade Young.
We spent 9 days in December in this beautiful place and it’s no surprise that many riders reckon the “Barkly Bash” is our best event of the year!
The Dakar is well underway, now into the 4th day and this year it is even more exciting to us as 10 Southern African’s battle it out in the deserts of South America. Cyril Despres took the lead on Day 3 but has yet to win a stage this year.
Please note that our 1st EWXC of the year was originally planned for 19 January but has been moved to 16 February as it was felt the original date was just too early. Our event dates for the year are:
Guys I know there are some wondering what Enduro World Club is doing in 2013 regarding affiliation. The threats made by MSA obviously do get everyone a bit jumpy and we know everyone wants to make plans for next year. It has been difficult to be patiently silent but there are things happening and hopefully some results will be seen soon which might well mean you don’t have to make a choice of either/ or.
Basically the situation as I see it is that MSA tried the legal route to shut down any competition (which they have apparently been trying to do since 2006). They not only lost but it cost them money - your money that could have done a lot of good for the sport.
That didn't work so now they resort to threatening something that attempts to completely rob you of your constitutional right to freedom of choice. I'm not a legal guy but isn't that illegal?

The 2012 Red Bull ISDE was held in the beautiful country of Germany out at the ever so famous Sachsenring racing circuit. The Germans definitely know how to put on a show and went all out making the 87th ISDE one to remember. There were more than 30 countries and over 480 riders that took part in this historical event. It was spectacular to see the world’s best enduro riders all at the same place at the same time fighting to be crowned the world’s best Enduro team. The November issue of Enduro World will feature this event and give you an exclusive inside view of the 2012 Red Bull International Six Day’s Enduro.
