Roof Training ‘Trial Run’
This year our Roof Training Tours will be quite different. Instead of guided groups, we are going to provide you with GPS tracks and off you go, exactly like you do in the actual Roof. The route will be tough and challenging, representing a proper Roof trial run. We will have sweepers going off after every 10 or so riders and you may ride with a training buddy if you wish to.
We see this as a great opportunity to test your readiness for the Roof, and also a great opportunity for those who always wanted to do The Roof before they “shifted the goal posts”.
These tours will be run on the 1st weekend of September and the 1st weekend of October. More information and booking forms available here

KTM FESTIVAL 2010 SUN CITY – 16-19 SEPTEMBER
KTM South Africa has confirmed that they will be hosting the 2010 KTM Festival at Sun City from 16 to 19 September 2010. Kiwi Chris Birch, said he wants to come out to join the KTM crowd on their Enduro outrides. KTM legend Giovanni Sala also added his name onto the list to share stories and memories with his friends from South Africa.
“It’s about time to give something back to our customers.”, says Franziska Brandl, Managing Director of KTM South Africa. “The KTM Family as we call it is something very special and the friendship amongst riders is impressive. We want to make this an annual event and get KTM riders from the whole of Southern Africa together to live their passion and spend a weekend with likeminded people. We will not just cater for the Adventure customers like we did in the past. We want families to come and let the kid’s ride the Junior Motocross track while their dad’s go on an Enduro outride and the wife relaxes at the pool. There will also be a Senior Motocross track, a Supermoto track as well as Street outrides, so every owner of a KTM or Husaberg motorcycle will be able to enjoy the weekend with us.”
The KTM Festival 2010 will consist of daily outrides on Enduro, Adventure or Street bikes as well as Junior MX, Senior MX and Supermoto track riding. Local KTM heroes Alfie Cox, Darryl Curtis and Riaan van Niekerk took their time to check out the Adventure and Enduro routes themselves to make sure the riders will get to ride the best terrain in the Pilanesberg area.
Thursday night will be the opening function with riders’ briefing and a delicious dinner. On Friday and Saturday everyone will have the opportunity to join the Pro’s on the outrides and learn a little trick here and there from them or just enjoy riding the Motocross or Motard track. While the riders are having lunch Brian Capper will excite them with his Xtreme riding show.
Sunday, the last day of this very special event, foresees another outride in the morning before the riders leave Sun City after lunch, taking home lots of memories and new friendships.

De Wildt Soccer Ball donation
You may have come across local youngsters at De Wildt kicking just about anything around in place of a soccer ball (which is something of a luxury there). Muddx and Friends of De Wildt (FOD) have been offered 90 soccer balls at R50 each. We would like to raise enough money purchase the balls and have them branded with the MuddX and FOD logo’s, and then donate them throughout the area on a “Spring Day ride”.
If you would like to contribute you can do so into the Friends of De Wildt account below. If additional funds are collected, it will be used to offset the debt we still have for the blankets.

National Off-road at Brits/ De Wildt 21st
To all regular De Wildt riders:
MS2000 are hosting the next (5th) round of the National off-road bike and quad championship from the Wagpos High School in Brits on the 20th and 21st August. Already 1 round of the national championship (Hluhluwe) has been cancelled and race organisers are really struggling to find available land to run events on ... ask us, we know all about that!
Part of the route will use some of the sections of De Wildt like 3 Fences and the Long Rocks area, which will obviously interfere with regular weekend riders frequenting those areas.
The Organisers are giving back to the De Wildt community in various ways and with the difficulty in finding available land for running events nowadays, I'm sure the regular De Wildt weekend riders can find it within themselves to accommodate this event for one day?
In fact, why not enter the event and enjoy it - there's a class for everyone including a Club class which only does 50% of the route and only races on the Saturday.

WIM Enduro World Endurocross - Zwartkops
Enduro World staged an Endurocross event at Zwartkops Raceway on Women's Day, 9th August 2010. The event was to provide some entertainment for the ladies in Motorsport and to give ladies a chance to try their hand at endurocross.
13 Pro riders lined up for the 2 heats, including Jade Gutzeit, Brian Capper, Jade Gutzeit, Louwrens Mahoney, Wade Steele-Smith, Mark Garland, Wynand Delport, Bruce and Brent Le Riche.
With the advantage of electric start it was Brian Capper and Gray Dick who got the jump on the rest of the field after the 'Le Mans start' in both heats, but within the 1st lap Jade forced his way to the front and, with smooth and consistent riding he eventually shook the hard charging Capper off to take 2 wins. In Heat 1 Brian Capper was 2nd and Marc Torlage 3rd; Heat 2 saw Gray Dick take 2nd and Louwrens Mahoney 3rd. Overall points looked like this:
1. Jade (25-25)
2. Gray Dick (16-22)
3. Louwrens Mahoney (18-20)
4. Marc Torlage (20-18)
5. Brian Capper (22-16)
The Ladies class featured Kirsten Landman, Toni-Jay Mosterd, Maxine Nortje, Lee and Morag (who had never ridden an enduro bike before, coming from an adventure bike). Young Kirsten has really been making aname for herself lately, winning the Nomadik EWXC Ladies class this year, and she was completely unchallenged in both heats here. Toni had some bike issues but all the ladies did very well and enjoyed the event as much as the guys did.
Overall:
1. Kirsten (25-25)
2. Lee (22-20)
3. Toni-Jay (16-22)
4. Maxine (20-18)
5. Morag (18-16)
A 'just-for-fun' trials bike class saw Matthew take the win from Garth, Miles and Graham.
The spectators were treated to some incredible riding and I was asked by many riders and spectators to put on a series. We are looking into this quite seriously so watch this space ...
